Fourth Generation Family of William CHAPMAN (C3) and Harriet GLOVER C4 Thomas CHAPMAN Born in 1835 in Edenbridge, Kent and christened on 14 November 1835 in Ightham, Kent. Resided in 5 Albion Street, Croydon in 1881. Occupation: Blacksmith. About 1863 when Thomas was 28, he married Sarah. She was born in 1837 in Edenbridge, Kent. They had the following children: Charles (1864 Croydon -). Occupation: Labourer. Walter (1866 Croydon -). Occupation: Labourer. C6 Henry William (1870 Croydon – 1927 Croydon) Emily (1873 Sydenham, Kent -) Edwin (1875 Sydenham -). Sarah (1879 Croydon -) The first three children (Charles, William and Henry) were born in Croydon. The family probably moved to Sydenham in 1873 where Emily and Edwin were born, then in 1879 back to Croydon for the birth of Sarah. Thomas is listed in 1881 Census living at 5 Albion Street, Croydon aged 46 with wife Sarah, 44, and children Charles, 18, Walter, 15, Henry, 11, Emily, 8, Edwin, 6 and Sarah, 2.
C5 George CHAPMAN Born in 1845 in Ightham, Kent and christened on 5 October 1845 in Ightham, Kent. Occupation: Agricultural Labourer. George married Elizabeth. She was born in 1848 in Wrotham, Kent. They had the following children:
