The Meaning of the name CROWHURST CROWHURST is another name that derives from location rather than the occupation of the person. Most references on the subject state that the name derives from the village of Crowhurst in Surrey. The earliest ancestor traced is Cornelius CROWHURST, born about 1780. It would appear that he, and his three sons, were Journeymen Carpenters and constantly moved around the country seeking work.
